Dylan's first full show (aka The Trophy Fire CD Release show) |
Lead | |
|
I had to leave after The Matches (damn having to wake up early to go to work, being an adult sucks ass), but what I saw was good. The first band, Picture
Atlantic, reminded me of Jack's Mannequin with some Kill Hannah face paint and Tom from PWTs dance moves thrown in. Good and unpretentious, definitely
worth checking out their MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/pictureatlantic). Plus some of their
parents showed up for support (awww) and the parents were very polite and thanked me when I relinquished the low table that I was sitting on so that one of the
moms could sit down. Now onto The Matches *cue fanfare*... -Aussies, don't bother asking for Audio Blood to be played just yet, because Justin hasn't
learned to play it one fingered -Both Justin and Dylan did well, but Dylan seemed kinda nervous and almost overwhelmed the way he kept staying in the corner of
his part of the stage and he kept making a turtle face, so from now on I'm going to refer to him as Dylan the Turtle -Dylan the Turtle also has a very
shy/naive/innocent demeanor which I've never seen in a bassist before so yeah it was kinda weird...or maybe it was just 'cause he was nervous about his
first real show with The Matches -Shawn's guitar's name is officially Tuesday Gloria -The set list (thanks for the copy Matt, and thanks for handing it
to me nicely!):Sunburn vs. the Rhinovirus, Chain Me Free, Future Tense, Wake The Sun, Didi (My Doe, Pt. 2), Salty Eyes, Sick Little Suicide, Yankee in a Chip
Shop, Papercut Skin -Even if they pretend to leave the last song for the audience to choose, it's never a democracy 'cause it's rigged All in all,
it was still a tight sound, even with the new turtle and the 1-fingered guitar playing.

Well firstly I think you mean Jon & not Justin, Im just saying. & I enjoyed the shyness that is Dylan, the fool won me over none the less. It was a
good show, but I think the highlight of it all was the chit chat between songs. There was some winning quotes floating about from them last night. & I too
left after The Matches, but I had to be up at 5:30 this morning, so you know. Whatever. Where am i going with this? I dunno, nice show.
OH! & I wanted to suggest Claudia Von Dussen as the guitars name, but alas I did not. |

You're right. My brain's not all here because I've been typing while taking 5 second breaks in my work, gathering raw data for my boss (there's
a reason why I didn't want a job as a market researcher and that's because gathering raw data sucks ass, stfu class action lawsuits that make me do
this shit). You should have. Gloria got tacked on after he decided on Tuesday because the chick standing in the group next to me suggested it when he was
packing up as soon as he told me that he decided on Tuesday. Dylan the Turtle seemed less shy/nervous when he was carting stuff around and when he was talking
to people, so it was probably just nerves from playing his first real show with the band. He seems like a sweet kid and likeable. Loved the chit chat too and
now I know to never piss off Matt when he's holding a knife.

Dylan didn't really stand out at all. At times, I forgot he was even there.

Once he gets more comfortable being on stage with the other guys, I'm sure he'll be fine. I think for him, it was like "holy guacamole, I'm playing on stage with guys I look up to, in a band that I'd give my left kidney to be in!!!!!" and so that would definitely make anyone nervous.
